Brochure Cover design

Client: Chamber Players of Canada

Designer: Milusha Petrica (me)

Must haves: This painting as the focal image, the colour purple.

Here are 3 concepts for the cover of the Chamber Players of Canada Program Brochure. The client wanted me to use the painting in all 3 concepts. I have chosen to use it differently in the first design. This concept is contemporary and bold and appeals to my design aesthetic. The other 2 concepts are more along the lines of what the client was looking for. In the second concept, I have added in a background pattern to add a little bit of depth texture, visual interest and modernity. The last concept is simplistic and is going to be the cover for this brochure.

Wordmark (logo) design + Stationery

Client: Music & Beyond

Designer: Milusha Petrica (me)

Music & Beyond is a new classical music and multi-disciplinary arts festival based in Ottawa, Ontario. The festival pursues links with other art forms and cultural disciplines and music including visual art, drama, poetry, dance, architecture, science, law, food and wine and even yoga. Music and Beyond is virtually unique in the international field of music festivals. By tying together a wide range of other cultural disciplines, the festival creates a more “festive” atmosphere and help to attract an even broader audience to music.

M&B had a wordmark that was outdated and did not showcase the festival in its true light. I worked on a myriad of concepts before arriving at this particular one. I kept in mind that the client wanted a refreshed and elegant look. A design that would appeal to a younger demographic whilst still satisfying their loyal fan base. Since the Artistic and  Executive Director of the festival was a musician himself and a cellist, we settled on a cello neck as the icon flanked by English and French text in a mature typeface to convey the bilingual aspect of the company.

Large Banner

Client: Manulife Place

Agency: mkm

The Manulife Place mall needed different sized banners for the Christmas season. The banners had to reflect the mall’s “rich” and “glowing” nature theme. The final banner artwork was laid out and prepared by me and that included consulting with the printer to make sure the bronze colours chosen would print well on large cloth banners. The sample below will show a brown colour as that is how I had to present it to the printer, who would select the appropriate PMS metallic colour to apply to the artwork.

The client was extremely satisfied with my design and the banners hung proudly at Manulife Place that Christmas!

Illustrations

This is a sample of a few illustrations that I have done. Drawing and illustrating colourful works has a special place in my heart. I adore working on anything that might be endearing to others. I have painted several canvases for friends and family; those are some of my proudest moments! The first row is a sample of a calendar I designed and illustrated for colleagues and family two years ago, the second is a poster and the third is for a canvas.

I want you to try and enjoy them as much as I enjoyed discovering and creating them!

Roses Café Jazz Nights

Client: Roses Café

Freelance: Milusha Design

Roses Café was an Indian Restaurant that also had an owner who absolutely LOVED jazz. Every Saturday night was Jazz night and he would showcase musicians from around the city of Ottawa. He needed posters to advertise their Jazz nights as this was not very common. I illustrated and created these posters.
